DESCRIPTION:Wednesday saw the OBBA Show and Sale of Breeding Bulls for 2025\, with a sound entry forward attracting a lot of interest and selling to new record price averages for Charolais\, Simmental and Limousin Bulls\, and a new centre record price for Charolais\, Simmental and Limousin Bulls. A credit to the Orkney Breeders for turning out such high-quality stock. The show was expertly judged by Mr Ingram Stout\, Whitehall\, Stronsay. This Bull created a lot of keen interest and sold for 7000 gns to Barrogill Mains\, Thurso. Reserve Champion was awarded to lot 2\, “Baillieston Thunder”\, shown by W R Baillie\, Biggings\, Toab. This strong bull fetched a new centre record price of 7500 gns purchased by Hermisgarth\, Sanday. \n  \nSENIOR CHAROLAIS \n1st Lot 2 “Baillieston Thunder” from W R Baillie\, Biggings\, Toab 7500gns to Hermisgarth\, Sanday. \n2nd Lot 3 “Dounby Tango” from Spence\, Norton\, Dounby 4500gns to Braehead\, South Ronaldsay. \n  \nINTERMEDIATE CHAROLAIS \n1st Lot 4 “Baillieston Usher” from W R Baillie\, Biggings\, Toab 7000gns to Barrogill\, Thurso. \n2nd Lot 5 “Baillieston UK” from W R Baillie\, Biggings\, Toab 7200gns to Orquil\, St Ola. \n3rd Lot 6 “Messigate Usher” from A Harcus\, Messigate\, Tankerness was Unsold \n  \nJUNIOR CHAROLAIS \n1st Lot 7 “Baillieston United” from W R Baillie\, Biggings\, Toab 6800gns to Crook\, Birsay. \n  \nNext in the ring were the Simmental Bulls\, with Champion being awarded to lot 9 “Swannay Niknak” shown by Ryan Morgan\, Swannay Farm\, By Evie. This well bred Bull created a lot of interest and sold to a breed record price of 6000gns purchased by Midhouse\, Harray. \n  \nNext in the ring were the Aberdeen Angus Bulls with Champion being awarded to lot 11 “Baillieston Loaded” shown by W R Baillie\, Biggings\, Toab. This Bull went on to realise 5000gns to Orquil\, St Ola. Reserve Champion Aberdeen Angus was lot 10 “Burnside Emojo” shown by P M Harcus\, Messigate\, Tankerness. This bull also sold for 5000gns to Seattersquoy\, Stenness. \n  \nOTHER AA BULLS \n3rd Lot 12 “Burnside Edward” from P H Harcus\, Messigate\, Tankerness was Unsold. \n  \nNext in the ring were the Limousin Bulls with Champion being awarded to Lot 13 “Dwarmo Umar” shown by M & R Cursiter\, Arwick\, Evie. This well bred Bull was very sought after and reached a breed record price of 6800gns to Cloke\, Dounby. Reserve Champion was lot 14 “Dwarmo Umbro”shown by M & R Cursiter\, Arwick\, Evie. This bull went of to realise 3500gns to Weethick\, Tankerness. \n  \nFinally in the judging ring was a new class of bulls ranging from 30-36 months old. Champion was awarded to lot 16 “Backakelday Tiktok”. A Limousin Bull shown by Backakelday Farm\, Holm which created a lot of interest and eventually sold to 6000gns to Quoybond\, South Ronaldsay. Reserve Champion in this age group was lot 8 “Backakelday Thorin”. A Charolais Bull bred by Backakelday Farm\, Holm which wenbt on to realise 4500gns to Fea\, St Ola. \n  \nOTHER 30-36 MONTH BULLS \nLot 1\, “Otterswick Santana” (Shorthorn) shown by S C & E F Ray\, Crudy\, Sanday  3200 gns to Newhouse\, Orphir. \n  \nLINCOLN RED BULLS \n“Scar Cooper” from I & I Brown\, Millbrae\, Sanday 3800gns to Newhouse\, Swannay. \n  \nUNREGISTERED LIMOUSINS \nLot 20 from R & J Johnston\, Hewan\, Shapinsay 3800gns to East Howe\, Birsay. \nLot 21 from R & J Johnston\, Hewwan\, Shapinsay 3000gns to Ballgreen\, South Ronaldsay. \n  \nAGED BULLS \nLot 22 Charolais from A Harcus\, Messigate\, Tankerness 4500gns to Ingsay\, Swannay. \nLot 23 Charolais from C & K Omand\, Oback\, South Ronaldsay 3800gns to Yarpha\, Orphir. \nLot 24 Simmental from C & K Omand\, Oback\, South Ronaldsay 3000gns to Hilltoft\, Holm. \nLot 25 Angus from C & K Omand\, Oback\, South Ronaldsay 3800gns to Farewell\, Soth Ronaldsay. \nLot 28 Angus from N & K Sclater\, Skaill\, Orphir 3100gns to Laga\, Evie. \n  \nIn Calf Heifers averaged £2518 \nIn Calf Cows averaged £2301 \n  \nThere was a herd dispersal of Pedigree Shorthorn Cows from S C & E F Ray\, Crudy\, Sanday. These Shorthorn Cows averaged £2500 and topped at £2950 for “Otterswick Waterloo Lucina” which was the Sanday Show Champion in 2024. \n  \nOTHER CRUDY COWS \n£2450   SH \n£2100   SH \n  \nThere was the complete Herd Dispersal from C & K Omand\, Oback\, South Ronaldsay.
