Forward on Monday were 9 Prime, 270 Store & 20 OTM Cattle.
To mark the 30th anniversary of Orkney Auction Mart premises being in Hatston, the sale started with a Mart beast being donated to charity. The beast was a Limousin Heifer purchased in Feburary which was bred by G & B Rendall, Breckowall, Westray which scaled 685 kilos and sold for £3600 to Williamsons Butchers. After the sale there was a generous donation from Robert Maitland of Maitland Farms, West Balhalgardy, Inverurie of £1400 which rounded the proceeds to £5000. There was also £270 of cash donations from our tent on County Show day. The two chosen charities were Orkney Prostate Awareness and Somas Light, who will both be awarded £2635 each.
Prime Heifers topped at 450 p/kg for a Limousin scaling 645 kilos from Glen Orkney Farms, St Ola realising £2902 purchased by Donaldsons.
