The Orkney Bull Breeders Association show and sale took place with 14 Bulls forward for sale.The Judge on the day was Mr George Muir, Gorn, Shapinsay who had the difficult task of judging three strong classes of high quality bred animals.The Limousin Champion was lot number 6, “Norseman Black Orkney”, a February born bull Sired by Bailea Caviare, out of Dam Emslie Gondola. This bull created a bit of interest in the ring but unfortunately didn”t make its reserve price and was unsold.Next in the ring was the Charolais section and a strong line-up of bulls were on offer to the Judge. Champion Charolais went to lot number 10, “Baillieston Ohio”, an April born bull sired by Baillieston Lord, out of Dam Baillieston Lydia. This bull caught everyone”s attention and later sold for 5,800gns to A & A Muir, Hermisgarth, Sanday.Reserve Champion Chariolais went to lot number 9, “Dounby Oscar”, a February born bull sired by Goldies Eddy, out of Dam Dounby Ivy. This bull also stirred a lot of interest in the Mart and later sold to 3,800gns to V H Spence, Mucklepow, Evie.Finally in the judging ring was the Shorthorn section. Champion Shorthorn went to lot number 14, “Lagas Logan”, a December 2017 born bullsired by Alvie Gaius out of Lagas Jessica. This bull attracted a lot of attention and eventually went on to sell for 3,000gns to J & M Cursiter, Charleston, Papay. Reserve Champion Shorthorn was awarded to lot 13, “Greeness Eddie”, a December 2017 born bull sired by Glenisla Explorer out of Greeness Edith. This bull created a lot of interest in the ring but failed to meet the reserve price.Although not eligible for Judging, there were a number of young bulls on offer for sale.B Ridland, Aikerness, Evie sold lot 15, “Berga Jakob”, an August born Simmental bull sired by Kilbride Farm Elmo, for 1,800gns to A B & J A Fraser, Westshore, Rendall.C W Paterson also had a Simmental bull forward. Lot 20, this April born unregistered bull sold for 2,400gns to W & N Scott, Pickletillum, Deerness.J C Rendall, Rowland, Holm had another Limousin forward. Lot 16, this February born unregistered bull created serious interest in the Mart and later sold for 5000gns Rendall, Whitehowe, Papay.AGED BULLSBreckmyres, Shapinsay
